Rain and green water

It’s Sunday, January 9th and this is my first blogpost on our new website dedicated to lake management.

If you are reading this, welcome, and I hope I don’t lose your attention.

It’s raining again here in Southern California.  Yes, we need the rain.  It’s so welcome.  I’ve spent the day watching chick flick with my wife, editing my multiple platforms a little and the rain on the windows reminded me of rain’s impact on our lakes.

Rain means green hills in January here in Southern California. It’s gorgeous.

The hills are green, the air is crisp, and fertilizer is falling from the sky.

Nitrogen.

Nitrogen atttaches to the water and falls to our fields and ponds (and lakes) and fertilizes the ground and water.

This fertilizer makes our fields green, and it has it’s affects on our manmade lakes, ponds, and recreational swim ponds.  The water turns green because the nitrogen cycle is slow, water is cold, and overall……. Weather is not cooperating with your decomposing organic compounds - the sludge.

We have a solution.  Please call us and we will gladly walk you, for free, over the phone, how to combat your specific issue.  Our number is 888-713-7771.

As always, we have an answer, and if we don’t know what to do, we have resources.

All the best,

-Carl
